A Brief Look at My Career

I drew my first cartoon character as soon as I could hold a pencil and I haven’t stopped drawing since. Fortunately, I was born and raised in Southern California which meant the major entertainment studios were practically in my own backyard. After several disappointments peddling my portfolio around town, I was finally able to land my first job as an inbetweener/assistant animator at Filmation Studios. The door was finally open!

I moved on to other studios – such as Warner Brothers, Hanna Barbera, Disney, Universal, and Nickelodeon – learning as I went from the masters who helped mold the animation industry into what it is today. I worked my way up to Creative Producer, supervising the overall creative process which provided an opportunity to work with executives, show creators, directors, voice talent, amazing artists and more.  I’ve enjoyed working on a wide variety of projects, as well as discovering, teaching and mentoring new talent in the business.

Much of my inspiration comes from collecting Americana artifacts, restoring antique cars, and constructing environments, like a full-scale old west town on my ranch that’s populated with a menagerie of animals including horses, burros, wild turkeys and ducks. It’s the perfect place to kick back, play my harmonica and ponder my next idea.
